Production of captive mined coal by NTPC increased by more than double to 2.75 MMT in April.

State-owned NTPC Ltd. stated on Tuesday that the production of coal from its captive mines increased by more than twofold to 2.75 million metric tonnes in April 2023. In contrast to the 1.11 million metric tonnes (MMT) produced in April 2022, NTPC produced 2.75 MMT of coal in April 2023, according to a company release.

Since September, Russia has surpassed Australia as India's leading supplier of pulverised coal infusion.

Russia shipped 3.6 million tonnes (mt) of PCI to India between September and February, which is 20% greater than Australia's monthly output of 3.6 mt.

India's coal imports increased to 162 MT in FY23, and inbound shipments of coking coal increased to 54 MT.

The import of non-coking coal was 13.88 MT in March alone compared to 12.61 MT in the same month last year. 3.96 MT of coking coal was imported compared to 4.76 MT in March 2022.

NGT directs UP govt to keep vigilon illegal brick kilns in Delhi-NCR

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to keep an eye on illegal operations of brick kilns in the Delhi-NCR. This includes seven West UP districts and 13 in Haryana. The concerned authorities of UP may keep a vigil against illegal operation of brick kilns so as to protect the air quality in the NCR

Gauhati HC defers hearing in coal mining inside Dehing Patkai till Feb 2021
